Lake Ponderosa is the private, residential lake of everyone’s dreams.

Tucked away just three miles west of Montezuma, Lake Ponderosa is 440 acres in size with seven miles of teeming shoreline. There are 700 houses on the lake, which means that you can still enjoy wooded areas along the shore.

Lake Ponderosa is known for having a warm community environment with year-round residents, and seasonal residents welcomed all the same.

Recreation

Everything is more fun when you are on the lake. Residents enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and more water sports.

Next to Lake Ponderosa on its eastern side is Diamond Lake Park and Fox Forest. This 632-acre park is a great place for lake residents to hike, bike, nature watching, picnic, horseback ride, and camp. In the winter, hunting and winter fishing derbies become popular.

Community Events & Local Business

The Lake Association for Lake Ponderosa does an excellent job of keeping the community involved. The Lake Association sponsors the area’s Fourth of July fireworks display, fishing derbies, ice cream socials, and the annual tour of homes.

Enjoy a drink after a long day on the water at Pirates Ponderosa restaurant and bar. It is located by the second lake entrance and has a playset, sand volleyball court, games, and an open patio for guests to have fun.

There are more restaurants, convenience stores, and local shops in the town of Montezuma.
